The whole check-in process took mere 20 minutes; I’ve never had such a pleasant experience at the Bush airport. With 30 minutes to spare, I ordered a cup of Harpoon UFO and two pieces of Hamachi.

I was feeling quite satisfied when a fellow traveler named Maxine Walters (using an ironic pseudonym to protect the individual’s identity), struck a conversation. Maxine, a PhD candidate from Rice, was on her way to visit family members in NJ. A pleasant conversation ensued and we talked about CRISPR and its potential impact on the evolution of human phenotypes. I contributed to the conversation by astutely pointing out the difference between chorizo and al pastor.
